Collaborative usage/research locations for cancer metastasis/drug resistance
In 2010, the Kanazawa University Cancer Research Institute was recognized as a “leading collaborative research location for cancer metastasis/drug resistance”. In view of this, the Institute was renamed from “Cancer Institute” to “Cancer Research Institute” as of April 1, 2011 in order to further clarify its position as a location aiming to overcome metastasis/drug resistance, which is a general term for malignant progression of cancer.
Together with the authorization of this collaborative research location in the fields of cancer “metastasis” and “drug resistance”, we will continue to lead the way for increased development in these fields, promote collaborative research with relevant domestic and international research institutions, and proceed with the following outline of operations.
Outline
- To promote collaborative usage/research utilizing this Institute’s Human Cancer Tissue Bank, Mouse Carcinogenesis Model Tissue Bank and Medicine Library with the aim of overcoming metastasis/drug resistance, generally referred to as the malignant development process of cancer.
- To integrally promote research and development of leading cancer models (CGM and PDX) and develop new collaborative research resources.
- To contribute to improvement of treatment results by carrying out integrated research into metastasis/drug resistance from clarification of the molecular mechanisms to development of treatments, focusing on cancer stem cell/cancer microenvironments that are closely related to the malignant development process of cancer.
- To invite researchers from Japan and overseas who are active on the frontline of this field, to hold international symposiums and on-site symposiums, and to promote the construction of a cancer researcher network and train talented young personnel.
